The Art of Merrilee Sett

About the Artist - Merrilee Sett AFCA, NWWS, NEWS
Merrilee Sett

Merrilee grew up in Tahsis, Vancouver Island and Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. She studied art at the Emily Carr College in Vancouver and also studied print making in Florence, Italy. She attended the Ontario College of Art while living in Toronto, Ontario. Merrilee moved to Westchester County, New York where she continued painting 2004-2017. Relocated to Halifax, Nova Scotia, 2017. There has been a transition on many levels. She loves the whole creative process and visual opportunities of whatever life has to offer. The subject matter often dictates the medium used, but watercolor and mixed media painting remains a favorite. The viewer she hopes sees a more unique, creative and absorbing approach to painting. Her work has been exhibited and sold in private collections internationally.

   Artist's Statement

"I paint for the love and absorbing challenge of it all. To be caught up in the relationship between myself, subject and process is pleasing in itself, but when an onlooker is caught up as well that is truly gratifying".
